Finish up your end-of-year shopping with these yachts

As a broker of used boats, our list of preowned vessels is refreshed very often. What’s more, there is a renewed vigour in this industry as more and more people are purchasing new crafts and upgrading from their first boat, resulting in many worthy vessels reentering the used market. Here are 5 such vessels that have recently entered our list, for your consideration, at 5 differing price points.

Beneteau First 45, USD 90,000

Here’s a tried and tested sailing yacht that was very well received when she was new, and has given her owner years and years of reliable service. Beneteau is a name that needs no further introduction in the world of yachts, and this yard created the First 45 to be a fast cruiser.

She is not designed to be crewed shorthanded, no, this cruiser is to be enjoyed with other people, and as such her decks are kept clutter free, and she has 3 cabins to sleep up to 6 adults on board. The interior is designed to be clean and minimal, and her owner has recently installed new electronics like navigation and radar to keep her updated, as well as a new head sail and main sail to keep up with movement of sail technology.

Grand Banks Eastbay 40, USD 240,000

Grand Banks is a shipyard that is based in Malaysia, and we are evidently very proud of this.  The yard has more than 70 years of experience in boat-building, and they still create very interesting boats today, with modern hulls and technology, but encapsulating them within a timeless, classic design. This Eastbay 40 is just so, and in fact many owners will keep a Grand Banks their entire lifetime, making these vessels a rarity in the used market, especially in Asia.

This particular example is meticulously cared for, and has 2 cabins that will service a small family. Powering the handsome yacht is a pair of CAT engines good for 350 hp each, and the owner has also installed solar panels for extra livability.

Meridian 391 Sedan, SGD 398,000

Though the make may be unfamiliar, Meridian is actually owned by the gigantic Brunswick Corporation that owns other well-known yards like Bayliner and Sea Ray, and so interested buyers can be assured that she comes from a well-established yard. She is designed with distinctive large cabin windows that runs the length of the entire hull, to pull sunlight into the lower decks, which really elevate the experience in the galley and the cabins here.

Both her cabins come with their own head and shower that will accommodate 4 people comfortably, and a couple of extra guests can also be housed in similar luxury in the saloon, which features a convertible sofa. She’s an excellent entry-level flybridge, and owners will enjoy looking at her in her berth almost as much as they enjoy taking her out to sea.

Beneteau Monte Carlo 47, EUR 450,000

Reviewers all agree on this point about the Monte Carlo 47: this yacht gives boaters remarkable value for money, especially in the area (pun intended) of spaciousness. Guests who climb aboard will instantly notice the volume in all her interior spaces, which is surprising in a yacht of her length. Beneteau achieved this, not by increasing length or beam, but by building upwards to give the yacht this expansive feeling, which is evident in all rooms of the yacht.

This particular yacht has the 2-cabin layout, as opposed to 3. Each of the cabins have their own head for additional privacy and usability, and the flybridge features an electronically-controlled sun awning. The MC47 is not just excellent to relax in; she has a pair of twin Volvo Penta engines with 600 hp each that guarantees exciting times.

Lagoon 42, USD 520,000

Lagoon is one of the few eminent makers of catamarans on our oceans today, and these multihulls also rarely make it back into the used market, which is perfectly understandable as these boats are ‘endgame’ boats. They are kept for life, and used for long-distance exploration – often we hear of families who make them permanent homes on water. The advantages of a catamaran are many, as we explain here, and truly, the Lagoon 42 is built for a life of freedom and adventure.

3 cabins and 3 heads are found in her hulls, while she also features a Dacron square top mainsail. Additional propulsion comes from a pair of Yanmar diesels with 57 hp, with 300 litres of fuel capacity. Finally, the price also includes a dingy with upgraded auto engine with steering for quick coastal forays.

In closing
