Need a yacht for any reason? Check out this boat builder’s range.

When a creator has been perfecting their craft for over 60 years, there’s a good chance they know what they are doing. The boatyard is located in Les Herbiers, France, and this region of the world is enamoured by boats. This passion for watercraft can clearly be experienced in Jeanneau’s comprehensive range of yachts, and there are a myriad of reviews online that can attest to this. Right now, the company makes 3 types of sailing craft and 5 types of motorboats. Each one will have a few variants, making the range comprehensive yes, but also a little intimidating. This article won’t touch on every single one but it will point out those that are particularly suited to certain occasions that may be of interest to you.

Daytripper – Cap Camarat 7.5 CC

The CC in the name stands for Centre Console, and it is 7.3 metres (24’) in length. This craft can also be had in two other styles, the Walk Around or Day Cruiser, but we like the CC’s balance of creature comfort and space. You’ll find space to hangout both fore and aft, three engine options from which to choose (225, 250, 300 hp) and a fantastic hull design by Michael Peters. The 7.5 is the largest Cap Camarat before lower decks with cabins become available. It’s not necessary as a daytripper, which is why we like this particular Cap Camarat but if you want a bed on your boat, you should check them out too. If you’re dipping your toes into boats, this should be where your adventure starts.

Outboard weekender – Merry Fisher 1095

Overall length of the 1095 is actually 10.5 metres (34’ 5”), and you can also have one with a flybridge. It may come as a surprise that we’re recommending a 10 metre boat for a weekender, and this is in no small part due to Jeanneau’s great use of design to elevate the space in the 1095. Nowhere in the hull cavity is wasted. She features two or three cabins, an enclosed saloon, a sundeck, recessed walkways on both sides of the cabin, and even a sliding side door for the helmsman. A pair of 300 hp engines will get you anywhere you need to go in a hurry if you want. For those who want the raw and rugged appeal of outboards, the MF1095 is certainly all you need in a weekend boat.

Luxury sports cruiser – Leader 46

As with most things reserved for the upper echelons, the Leader 46 is customisable. Three engine options are available, two deck layouts, and there is the option for two or three cabins. Three cabins only? That’s as many cabins as the MF1095. However, the Leader 46 is, quite literally, the leader of the two. The most powerful engine option is a pair of Volvo IPS600 making 435 hp each, hence her pedigree as a sports cruiser. Interior trim is unquestionably elevated, and due to her length of 14.3 metres (46’ 11”), the remarkable real estate of Jeanneaus is prominent in every space. Drawbacks? Perhaps the slightly narrow companionway.

Pure fisher – Merry Fisher Marlin 605

She was named the Best of Boats 2019 in the Best for Fishing category. Her relatively diminutive length of 5.6 metres (18’6”) keeps her focused on what’s important – sports fishing. Even so, she features one of the largest fully enclosed cabins for a boat of her size while still able to have a recessed sidedeck for more fighting area. Her engine can be tilted out of the water – again for a better fighting experience – and most interestingly, the dashboard can be slid aft, out of the cabin, for better navigation and manoeuvrability. For her price, there certainly are very few fishers out there with her talents.

Large outboard coastal cruiser – Cap Camarat 12.5 WA

She is Jeanneau’s latest evolution in keeping up with the latest trend in the yachting world. At her highest output you’ll find triple 300 hp Yamahas, but she is still good for many other purposes too. There’s a full beam master cabin with a big double bed and a smaller single bed for easy overnight trips. There’s an innovative foldable terrace just next to the aft alfresco dinette. From here you can take the companionway to the forewards seating area. All of this utility and ergonomics, in a boat with potentially 900 horses, is simply amazing.

When you want to make so many boats, there’s no running away from a production line, but don’t let that deter you from Jeanneau’s boats as they are all made to high standards. Just check out any of their reviews online. Some of the range, like the Leaders, land on the tip of luxury, but more often the rest of the yachts are honest boats, made for boaters, by a builder that loves boats. That’s truly high praise so if you’d like to see the rest of their yachts, we have the whole list here. Let’s end with this: if there’s one boat that may just be the jack-of-all-trades in their range, we think that will be the Merry Fisher 1095 Flybridge.
