No queue, no wait: two new yachts available in a few short months
A Jeanneau and Leopard Catamaran are arriving soon, and they could be yours
In the past couple of years, pleasure boating has increased in popularity tremendously. Our Founder and Managing Director, Mr Oh Kean Shen, has also expounded on this phenomenon in this article. This increase in boat buying is definitely a good sign on the continued health of the industry, but it also means that shipyards are working hard to meet the global demand for boats. A scant few years back, normal waiting time for a brand new vessel is about 24 months. Today, expect an extra 6 on top of that.
Unless, of course, you get one of these two boats. The Jeanneau Merry Fisher 1095, a highly talented and versatile weekender, is arriving at the end of this year, and the Leopard Catamarans 53 Powercat, the yard’s largest powered-multihull, is available in the first half of 2023.
A note on getting new boats that are pre-built
The expedience in which such boats are available means that they are already fully, or mostly, completed. Customisation and personalization, then, is highly dependent on the stage of built of the vessel. A fully completed boat may have only very few options left, like the type or number of outboard engines preferred.
This is not inherently a bad thing, however, as the simplified options page may be less daunting to new boaters. It is in our experience too, that most boaters prefer more streamlined choices, leaving full customisation to the realm of superyachts and hyperyachts.
The Jeanneau Merry Fisher 1095
We extol the virtues of the Jeanneau Merry Fisher 1095 often, and loudly, because of her versatility. The vast majority of boaters will only have a single yacht in this part of the world, and if there was ever only a single yacht to be kept, the Jeanneau Merry Fisher 1095 is it.
She’s got all the trappings of greatness too. Jeanneau is one of the best shipyards in the world, known for high quality boats. LOA is 10.5 m, or 34’5”, with either a 2 or 3 cabin configuration. Depending on her stage of completion, either layout may still be available. There are engine options available too, and with peak powerplants, she will top out at 37 knots.
Designers have thought about great features to make all her spaces that much better too. For example, the passenger seat in the saloon has a hinged backrest that allows forward-seating, bench-seating to face the dinette, and also folds down along with the dinette to be an extra berth for two. What’s more, the seat just in front of the outboards can slide forwards as they are on rails, which then allows the engines to be lifted out of water effortlessly for easy maintenance and to extend their life.
This fine example of a boat will be arriving around October this year. You can explore more of her here at Jeanneau’s very own website, and get in touch with us if you have questions, as we do have a full specification sheet.
The Leopard Catamarans 53 Powercat
Another vessel that we think very, very highly of, is the 53 Powercat from Leopard Catamarans. She was awarded the Multihull of the Year in 2020 by multihulloftheyear.com, and is the largest powered catamaran made by the shipyard. Just like any other catamaran, she provides excellent quality of life with her expansive onboard spaces, but even amongst multihulls, her spaces are particularly large.
For instance, designers moved the front bulkhead forward, which eliminated her predecessor’s (the Leopard 51PC) foredeck cockpit, and created a humongous saloon and galley area, which in turn also increased the size of the flying bridge above. This has gained the Leopard 53 Powercat a 30% increase in volume compared to the 51PC.
This catamaran has an LOA of 53’1”, or 16.19 m, and has an option for a three or four-cabin layout. Perhaps her greatest strength is her blue-water cruising capabilities. With both engines at the right speed, she has a quoted maximum range of 1330 Nm, and on a single engine, the range increases to 1995 Nm. For some comparison, Penang to Singapore is only about 400 Nm.
The Leopard Catamaran 53 Powercat will be available early in Q2 of 2023. You can find a virtual tour here, and of course, get in touch with us if you have any questions.
