From amazingly affordable to hopefully aspirational, these three preowned vessels quintessential pleasure boats

Our list of preowned boats is updated frequently, and so constantly inundating our audience on the newly available vessels would be a rude thing to do. However, once in a while truly great buys will pop onto our radar, and so we simply must tell you about them. Though these three vessels greatly differ in size and price, each are remarkable in their own right and so a deeper study into all their virtues is necessary. Let’s start.

Beneteau Barracuda 9, USD135,000

Year : 2016
Location : Port Klang, Malaysia
LOA : 29’3”
Beam : 9’7”
Draft : 2’8”
Engine : 2 x Suzuki outboard with 200 hp
Fuel capacity : 400 l
Water capacity : 98 l
Cabins : 1 with double berth
Heads : 1

Starting this list strong is the excellent Beneteau Barracuda 9, a fast and capable pilothouse. She is not large and measures in at just 29 feet, but she is by no means small. There is seating for 5 in the pilothouse, and to save space but not impair utility, she has fold-down tables that are mounted to the sides of the pilothouse. Here boaters can find a sink and a single stove, while headroom is an airy 6’6” and she comes with air conditioning as well. More seating is available both fore and aft of the pilothouse.

Below is a double berth and an enclosed head – accomodations that would suit a couple perfectly.

Interestingly, her hull is off a proprietary Beneteau design, known as Air Step hull, where a forward-facing scoop on both sides of the pilothouse will push air through a hose to an outlet at the keel. This builds a cushion of air for the aft part of the hull to lower the friction from the water for higher cruising speeds and lower fuel consumption.

Jeanneau Merry Fisher 895, MYR950,000

Year : 2021
Location : Penang
LOA : 29’2”
Beam : 9’9”
Draft : 2’2”
Engine : 2 x Suzuki outboard with 200 hp
Fuel capacity : 400 l
Water capacity : 100 l
Cabins : 1+1
Heads : 1

With the same LOA as the Beneteau Barracuda 9, the Jeanneau Merry Fisher 895 is similar to the Beneteau, but at the same time, also significantly different. The cockpit is not designed like a pilothouse, and the saloon features a galley with two burners, a sink and a fridge that can be concealed when not needed. Port side in here is a dinette that can be converted into a double berth to accommodate more people, and it also converts into forward facing seats. This is remarkable, and this versatility is why we love Jeanneau’s Merry Fisher range of boats.

Aft of the saloon is plenty of seats and two sockets for tables – the latter can be removed to make more fighting space for avid fishermen. On the starboard side is also a side door for easy access from the jetty – another thoughtful design by Jeanneau. The current owner has also installed an awning to further remove this area from direct sunlight.

Go below and there is a fore cabin, made light and airy by many windows, equipped with a double bed and a bathroom with an attached head. Unlike the Beneteau Barracuda 9, an extra two guests can be housed in the saloon thanks to the aforementioned convertible dinette/seating/berth.

Sunseeker Manhattan 63, GBP878,000

Year : 2012
Location : Phuket
LOA : 69’1”
Beam : 16’10”
Draft : 5’3”
Engine : 2 x MAN V8 with 1000 hp
Fuel capacity : 3500 l
Water capacity : 816 l
Cabins : 4+1
Heads : 3

Despite have 63 in its name, she is actually 69’ in length. Boats of this size no longer have to go down the clever-design route (like in the MF895 above) and have all the space they need to be ultra-luxurious without needing compromises. Her cockpit is large and comfortable, with two banks of L cushions circling one another to recreate a living room. Between the captain’s station and this space is another bank of L sofas and a table with free standing chairs where most meals will be held, and opposite it at port is the galley with loads of open worktop space, a deep sink, and plenty of storage.

Just aft of the saloon is a social area with seating and another table, while further aft and down a trio of stairs is the swim platform that the owner is using to house a Williams tender. Up on the flying bridge is a second helm, a wetbar, another social area, as well as another dining area. Guests will definitely not want for space on this yacht.

Opulent would be an adequate word to describe her accommodations. The master cabin is found amidships and is roomier than many a hotel room, with large hull windows welcoming in the light. An ensuite head and bathroom is located behind the bed.

The VIP cabin at the nose is not stingy in space either, with a double bed, two hanging lockers and many deep drawers for storage, as well as an ensuite head and shower. Finally, there are two guest cabins. One has a twin, while the other a bunk bed. A head is shared between the two, which is ensuite to the twin cabin. There is also a crew cabin with a double and single bed, with its own compact head.

Let’s conclude

All three of these preowned boats are highly capable in their own right, and choosing one simply depends on the buyers needs and budget.
